We study how children learn their first language and how they understand and interpret sentences during conversations. Current lab members are interested in how children interpret questions and pronouns, how they decide which sentence structure to use to convey information, and how all of these compare to adults. Research in the lab often addresses: 1) the development of the systems that allow us to understand sentences in real-time; 2) the development of linguistic predictions; and 3) the relationship between how children interpret sentences and how adults do the same.
