Do Babies See Groups?

Do Babies See Groups?

Harvard Lab for Developmental Studies (Thomas) (Harvard University)

Who Can Participate

For 11 months and 15 days to 12 months and 15 days of age

What Happens

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Your baby will see a brief video where animated characters interact on screen. Babies will see two animated groups perform a troop-like dance sequence, and later babies will watch these characters perform a set routine with each group having their own specific routine.

What We're Studying

Past studies have supported that 12-month-olds expect members of triads to act alike. This study hopes to replicate and extend on previous findings, in order to answer if babies expect members of triads and quintets to act alike. We aim to explore whether babies use a single cognitive system to detect and understand differences among various types of groups.
