Vanderbilt Computational Cognitive Development Lab (Vanderbilt University)
Who Can Participate |
This study is only for US residents, children older than 5 years and younger than 8 years old. |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. After finding a time that works for you, you will be directed to survey where you can complete our consent form and answer some questions concerning demographics and age. During the Zoom session, we’ll show your child an animated video of a stream of shapes moving across a screen. The shapes will follow different patterns. After the video, we will be showing your child two choices and ask them which shapes showed up in the previous video. |
What We're Studying |
We are interested in children’ memory regarding a stream of shapes. Previous studies have shown that the structure of the stream of shapes can enhance or hinder children's memory on them, and this study explores a method to enhance children's memory. By watching the stream of shapes and answering the questions regarding the shapes, we will know if this method is actually helpful. If this method is effective, it can be used in educational settings in the future to help children learn languages. |
Duration |
