The Big Beliefs Lab (Keene State College)

Kids 7-12 years |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. We are currently recruiting participants 7-12 years old through adulthood to answer a questionnaire about their beliefs. Over video call, a researcher will read the participating child 33 statements about spirituality, science, nature, and human nature and ask how much they agree or disagree with each one. Parents will also be asked to answer demographic questions, such as age, ethnicity, and religious affiliation. The study takes about 30-40 minutes. |
What We're Studying |
In this study, we are testing an updated version of a child-friendly beliefs questionnaire called the Unified Worldview Measure - Child Form (UWM-CF). The first version of the UWM-CF measured children's beliefs across three major areas: religion, free will, and growth/learning/self-reliance. In this update, we have added more questions about environmental beliefs and human nature beliefs. We have also added demographic questions about children's health to get a first look at whether there is a relationship between children's health and their beliefs. |
