Listen for the Sound Switch!

Who Can Participate

For full-term babies learning English

What Happens

Your baby will hear short sequences of made-up words while watching simple animations on the screen. Some sequences repeat the same word, while others switch between two different words. We will measure how long your baby looks at the screen to understand whether babies notice when the speech sounds change.

What We're Studying

Previous research has shown that babies' looking patterns change when they notice a change in what they hear. In this study, we are testing whether we can measure similar patterns in an online setting. Your baby will hear repeated or changing sequences of made-up words while watching simple animations. By measuring how babies look at the screen, we can learn whether this online study can capture babies' attention to changes in speech sounds.
