Gopnik Lab (UC Berkeley)
Who Can Participate |
For 4- to 6-year-olds |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a Zoom video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. In this study, children will take the role of detectives and solve mysteries related to changing pictures. They will win coins for solving the mysteries. |
What We're Studying |
This study investigates children's analogical reasoning skills: their ability to observe, discover common patterns from a given set of visual data, and apply the underlying patterns that they learn to new things that they will then see. This is important for understanding how much children can learn from passive visual data. |
Duration |
15 minutes |
Compensation |
Participants will receive a $5 Amazon gift card and a certificate of completion signed by Dr. Alison Gopnik after the study! Only one gift card will be rewarded per participant. The child participant must belong to the suitable age range of the study and must be visible in the entire experiment. |
