Probabilistic Learning Across Development: What Will Wiggle Do Next?

Probabilistic Learning Across Development: What Will Wiggle Do Next?

Child Emotion Lab (University of Wisconsin - Madison)

Who Can Participate

For 5- and 6-year-olds who speak English

What Happens

In this study, your child will play an emotion prediction game with Wiggle, a friendly alien from another planet. Your child will look at pictures of Wiggle's feelings and guess what he will do next.

What We're Studying

We're studying how children learn to predict others' actions based on their emotions. In particular, we're interested in whether labeling emotions for children helps them make these predictions. If so, this could inform the strategies we use to teach kids about emotions!

Duration

30 minutes

Compensation

After you finish the study, we will email you a $10 Amazon.com (US) gift card. To be eligible for the gift card, your child must meet the eligibility criteria listed above, and you must submit a valid consent statement. Your child must be visible in the consent video. Each person is eligible to participate to receive a gift card only once. Gift cards will be sent via e-mail within one week of study completion.
