Sharing Stories about Emotional Memories

Sharing Stories about Emotional Memories

LUMeN Lab (Emory University)

Who Can Participate

Parent-child pairs where the children are 13-18 years old

What Happens

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you and your pair. After meeting with a researcher to answer some questions about yourselves, the parent and the teen will each complete a survey online and share some information about different life experiences the parent has had and previously talked to their teen about.

What We're Studying

We know from previous research that knowing family stories about their parents helps adolescents' develop their sense of self and supports their emotional well-being. The purpose of this study is to understand how the emotional nature of different life experiences are shared between a parent and their child, which in turn can help us understand how to better support adolescent development.

Duration

~1 hour

Compensation

Both parent and teen will be paid within 48 hours of the teen completing the final survey. The parent and the teen will each earn $10 in the form of an e-giftcard to Amazon.com.
