Peek-a-boo, who are you?

Peek-a-boo, who are you?

Infant and Child Development Center (Northwestern University)

Who Can Participate

For babies aged 8 to 14 months who reside in the United States

What Happens

In this study, your baby will see faces of several different women. There will be a total of 20 different women’s faces on screen for several seconds each, and sometimes the same face will appear multiple times while we record how long your baby looks at the screen.

What We're Studying

Previous research shows that babies can tell apart kinds of faces they see frequently, but may group less familiar faces together. In this study, we are exploring whether babies notice differences between less familiar kinds of faces or see group them as the same. Your baby will view a series of faces, and we will measure their looking time to understand how they respond.

Duration

15 minutes

Compensation

For your participation, you will be sent a $5 Amazon.com e-gift card after we confirm your consent video and check that your child meets all eligibility criteria, within 1 week. To be eligible for compensation, the following criteria must be met: (1) you need to submit a valid video consent statement; (2) we need to see that there is a child with you in the study participation video.
