Cognition and Learning Center (CALC) (Rutgers University - New Brunswick)
Who Can Participate |
5 and 6 years old children residing in the US |
What Happens |
Your child will help two friends, Bobo and Lala, by playing some fun games. They will be shown different puzzles and asked to figure out how to solve them. They may be playing either an alian language game or an alien math game. |
What We're Studying |
Children can solve all kinds of logical problems, such as jigsaw puzzles. However, many logical problems can be described as either language games or math games. Does how we talk about the problem influence children's performance? In this study, your child will solve a series of puzzles in the form of a matching game. They will hear the game being described either as a language game or a math game. Findings from this study will help us understand factors that influence children's performance on cognitive tasks. |
Duration |
