Child-Centered AI Lab (Harvard University)
Who Can Participate |
Children ages 14 to 17 who are currently in high school. |
What Happens |
Your child will complete three parts. First, they will answer a few survey questions about their views on public topics. Second, they will write a short persuasive essay (roughly 3–5 paragraphs) with the help of an AI chatbot that offers suggestions and feedback as they write. Third, they will complete a brief survey about their prior experiences using AI tools. The entire study takes about 30 minutes and is completed independently by the child. |
What We're Studying |
This study investigates how high school students think and write with AI tools. By having students write a short essay with the support of an AI chatbot, we aim to understand whether and how AI assistance shapes students’ thinking and writing process. These insights can help inform how schools introduce AI tools responsibly. |
Duration |
30 minutes |
Compensation |
You will receive compensation if the child is within the required age range and the child is visible in the consent video. Compensation is limited to one payment per child. Compensation will be provided as a $10 Tango e-gift card within 8 weeks after completing the study. |
