Thinking About How Teachers Interact With Different Students

Thinking About How Teachers Interact With Different Students

Social Development Lab (North Carolina State University)

Who Can Participate

For 8 -12 year old children and their parents

What Happens

In this study, your child will read some brief stories about students in a class at school. The teacher will correct some of the students’ behavior, including students with and without ADHD. We will also tell them about ADHD and find out what they think about ADHD and if they know or are friends with any peers with ADHD. We will also ask you to tell us a bit about your child and your child’s tendencies and behaviors. This study will be completed through Qualtrics.
Note: This study involves a lot of reading and some writing by your child, because all questions are written down in the survey and sometimes there are free response text boxes to type in. You should be available to help your child read through and type, if helpful for your child. Your child can also click on audio files to hear the stories and responses read aloud to them.

What We're Studying

The purpose of this research study is to understand what and how children think about discipline in the classroom, particularly when certain groups get disciplined differently from others.
