Leonard Learning Lab (Yale University)
Who Can Participate |
For English-speaking 5-year-old children |
What Happens |
Your child will play spot-the-difference games! In each spot-the-difference game, your child will be presented with two pictures and they will try to find the differences between them. Some of the games will be harder than others. At the end, we tell your child how they did, and ask whether they want to end with an easier game or a harder one! |
What We're Studying |
Kids may learn about their abilities based on how well they are doing on a task and what feedback they receive from adults! For example, if a teacher tells a child they could do the hardest version of a task after the child succeeded at a medium level before, the child may then feel confident enough to choose the hardest task. In this study, we explore children’s task selection after receiving performance feedback and future performance estimation from an adult. Findings from this study will help us better understand how children learn about their abilities and what helps them take on challenges. |
