Look, Infer, and Understand (LIU) Lab (Johns Hopkins University)
Who Can Participate |
For 4- to 7-year-old kids |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. During the study session, your child will use sliders to play a game about energy. |
What We're Studying |
The study explores how children think about energy - specifically, whether they understand that different activities can either deplete or restore a person’s energy, and how energy change may be related to how difficult or how fun the activities are. It also probes children's understanding of what it means to be alive/a living thing. Studying these early intuitions is an important step toward understanding how children begin to develop basic biological reasoning. |
Duration |
45 minutes |
Compensation |
Participants will receive a $5 gift card to Amazon.com as compensation. To be eligible for compensation, the child needs to be in the age range and the child needs to be visible throughout the study. You must also provide consent at the beginning of the call, and you may receive compensation only once per child. We will send out this gift card within 1 week of the study's completion. |
