Children and Technology Lab (Yeshiva University)
Who Can Participate |
For 5- to 6-year olds and 8-to 9-year-olds |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. In this Zoom study, children will hear short stories about human or robot characters who are facing a moral dilemma and be asked what the character should do. Then, they will see videos of humans and robots stacking blocks and be asked to distribute the final blocks to one of them. |
What We're Studying |
By having children listen to short stories about moral dilemmas, we can better understand children's moral reasoning. This study will help us understand whether children attribute robots to having the same morals and values as people. |
Duration |
20 minutes |
Compensation |
We offer a certificate of merit and a gift card. Participants will receive an email with a certificate of merit with their child's name on it, and an e-gift card will be sent to the parent's email address. To receive the certificate of merit and the gift card, the family must join the Zoom session, and the child must be within the age range outlined in the study. Please note we only send gift cards from amazon.com (US) and Indigo (bookstore chain in Canada). |
