CADLab (Boston University)
Who Can Participate |
For 5- to 9-year olds |
What Happens |
During the study your child will watch videos about a group of kids at a far away summer camp doing new activities they have never heard of before. They will hear information about how kids at the camp do in these activities and, in some cases, hear an explanation as to why some kids do well and others while others do not. Then your child will answer questions about their own thoughts and feelings about the activities. For example, they may be asked how much they would want to try an activity or how good they think they would be at an activity. |
What We're Studying |
This study will help us understand if certain explanations about why groups of people perform better than others can shape children's beliefs about themselves. By comparing how children respond depending on the kind of explanation they are given, we aim to learn how different explanations influence children’s engagement. Ultimately, this study will help us learn how we can best explain differences in the world around us to children in ways that support positive learning and development. |
