Developing Minds Lab @ BU (Boston University)
Who Can Participate |
A study for children who are 3-7-years-old |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. Your child will watch several animations of a ball colliding with hidden objects, and will be asked which of two objects they think the hidden object is. They will also watch a video of two people playing a pretend game, and will be asked where they think a hidden object will be looked for. |
What We're Studying |
The goal of this study is to 1) understand whether children can infer the shape of a hidden object from its sound, 2) understand if children can track what other people think when pretending, and 3) explore how children think about people who think in pictures vs. words. There has been scant research in each of these domains, and we are interested to learn more about how children think about objects and other people, as these form the building blocks of child cognition! |
