Do Babies Think Nice People are also Fair?

Toronto Early Cognition Lab (University of Toronto)

Who Can Participate

For 12 to 23 month-olds. Each child can only participate a single time.

What Happens

In this study, your baby will see a series of short videos containing animated shapes. These shapes may hit/protect each other from harm, share resources fairly or unfairly, and climb hills or jump across spaces searching for strawberries. We will record your child's looking behavior as they watch the videos.

What We're Studying

We are interested in whether babies think nice people are also fair. For example, do babies think a person who protects someone will also share food fairly? Knowing how babies think about things like niceness and fairness can helps scientists think about how to raise kinder children.

Duration

15 minutes
