What Happens

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. In our time together, our researcher will read 8 short stories involving three chipmunks out on adventures. After each short story, your child will help a monkey decide what happened. The first 4 stories are when the adventures happened, and the last 4 stories are remembering the events with their dad.

What We're Studying

This study aims to explore how children understand sentences involving the verb ‘remember’. We can use ‘remember’ to talk about facts as well as experiences. We are curious to see how young children think about different types of remembering, and whether their interpretations change during these ages.

Duration

Compensation

To show our gratitude for your time and collaboration, all families who participate will be entered into a prize draw after data collection is complete. To be eligible to enter the draw, (1) your child will be in the age range, (2) will be visible during the Zoom call, and (3) you will have submitted a valid consent statement. Three families will be randomly selected to receive a $20 Amazon.com voucher. If you are a winner, you will be contacted via email by 25 September 2026.
