What Happens

In this study, children will watch interactive videos of various kids of different races and genders and asked questions about them. For example, your child will be asked who they would rather play with and how much they like certain kids.

What We're Studying

The purpose of this study is to learn more about how children develop racial and gender biases. We know from previous research that children develop biases about individuals based on their membership in certain social categories like race and gender. We are interested in exploring how these biases develop from an early age. In order to do so, we ask children questions about kids of different races and genders, and belonging to different novel groups. Please note that we will analyze how these biases develop across large groups of participants rather than your child's individualized response.
