Guess the leader!

Guess the leader!

Minds in the Social World (MiSo) Lab (University of Rochester)

Who Can Participate

For 3 - to 10-year-old children who are fluent in English

What Happens

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. On the Zoom call, your child will be introduced to a fictional cartoon group and listen to a story about a leader in the town. Your child will either learn about how the leader became the leader or what the leader is like. They will then be asked to guess which leader or path matches with what they learned about earlier in the story.

What We're Studying

The purpose of this study is to understand how children think about leadership. We are interested in how children match traits to actions in leaders and vice versa. Additionally, we want to understand how children make predictions about what might happen in the future based on a leader’s traits and actions in the present. This helps us understand how children learn about the social world around them and to support this learning!
