Cognitive and Neural Development Lab (University of Massachusetts Amherst)

Who Can Participate

For 7- and 8-year-olds

What Happens

In this study, your child will play a short picture game. Your child will see Pip the Photographer standing near some objects. Pip will take a picture, and your child will choose which of three pictures matches what Pip sees from where Pip is standing.

What We're Studying

The purpose of this study is to learn how children figure out what something looks like from another person’s point of view. We are interested in whether children make mistakes because it is hard to imagine another viewpoint, or because their own viewpoint is hard to ignore. This is important because perspective-taking is a basic part of child development and helps us understand how children think about space and other people’s experiences.

Duration
