Is that logical?

Is that logical?

Developing Minds Lab @ GMU (George Mason University)

Who Can Participate

4-6 year-olds

What Happens

In this short study, your child will be asked about their knowledge of some simple animal facts, before being told some hypothetical statements involving these animals. Your child will then be asked whether they agree with a particular conclusion about the animals.

What We're Studying

We are studying how and when young children use their logical thinking skills and how the things happening around them might change the way they think. Previous studies suggest that even really young children may use logic in some situations. In other words, children will sometimes use facts or information that they know are true to make conclusions about something else. But there are other possible reasons for what we've seen that have not been ruled out. Figuring out when kids can use this kind of logical thinking helps us learn more about how the mind works and how we can best support its development!
