What Happens |
The study will take place on a Zoom video call with a researcher! Selecting the “Schedule a time to participate” will take you to a booking website, where you can select a time and date that works best for you. A live researcher will tell your child short instances of three children doing activities and ask them if they think it was okay or not okay that one of the children did not understand the language that the other two children spoke in. |
What We're Studying |
In this study, we are interested in understanding how children judge linguistic exclusion or not understanding what is being spoken around them. Previous research has highlighted the benefits of early exposure to diversity in childhood, such as reduction in bias and greater perspective-taking skills. The data from this study could help us understand how children process some of the consequences of linguistic diversity around them. |
