For Children in Three US States (CA, NY, or TX): Fairy Tales!

Children ages 6- to 11-years-old who live in California, New York or Texas.

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. On the call, your child will look at illustrations from fairy tales and tell us about their characters: Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack & the Beanstalk. Then we will ask the child to play quick video games to show us their vocabulary (name the pictures) and inhibition (tap the fish not the shark) which are related to creativity and imagination. Parents will also answer a brief survey about their child’s imagination, personality and provide demographic information at the end.

We are checking to make sure that the Fairy Tale Test works to assess children’s personality, imagination and creativity. We also want to know how children differ from each other, by age, by gender, and where they live. Other researchers are collecting data in different languages all over the world. We are collecting data in Texas, New York, and California.

Your family will receive a $20 Visa gift card for participating. To be compensated, the child needs to be ages 6-11, the child needs to be visible and answering questions on the live call , and there can only be one child per call. Parents also need to answer the short survey at the end. The $20 electronic Visa gift card will take 1-2 weeks to arrive via email.
