For kids aged 8-12, who have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and DO NOT have any intellectual, cognitive, visual, or auditory impairments that would make it difficult for them to complete the study. Children cannot participate in this study multiple times. If you have multiple eligible children, they can each participate once. Note: Across multiple studies we will be comparing results from children who are diagnosed with autism to those who are not; this particular study is for children have an autism diagnosis. If your child does not have a diagnosis of ASD but wants to participate, check out our version of the study for kids without ASD (https://childrenhelpingscience.com/studies/3eb2ac19-f779-4e94-941f-97d5deec4120/)/ Please read the eligibility requirements. This information will be verified by a screener in the study, if your child does not meet the stated requirements they will be unable to proceed to the next part of the study and will not receive compensation. |

The study takes 1.5 hours to complete—approximately 30 minutes for the parent/guardian and one hour for the child. Parents will complete a video consent with their participating child present and then complete multiple choice surveys about their child's behavior. Then, the child will play a 3 part game (each part is 10-15 minutes) in which they learn what things (food, toys, games) another child likes. Finally, the child will fill out a survey about their own preferences. This study can only be completed on a computer or a tablet, it cannot be completed on a phone. Please note that if you stop the the study (exit out of the page) part way through you will not be able to finish it later, and so that will end the study session |
現在の研究・調査 |
This study will help us understand how children with autism make decisions about others. We would like to understand how children with autism and children without autism differ in their social behavior and learning strategies. Your child's participation will allow us to understand children's decision-making strategies and help us design future research on social decision-making in children with and without autism. |
期間 |
Most families complete the study in 60-90 minutes |
