研究・調査の流れ

In this study, your child will watch videos featuring a smiling face, and sometimes other objects (like an umbrella). The character will hide behind other objects in the scene, and then your child will be given a clue about where the character is hidden, and we will see where they look. Your child will then see a dancing face as a reward!

現在の研究・調査

We are interested in how babies begin to make simple logical inferences without using language. In this study, we are investigating whether babies can figure out where a face is hiding by using other pieces of information. We are studying whether learning where an object is, like seeing that the umbrella is on the right side will be more or less helpful to babies than seeing, for example, that the right side is empty. Studying this will help us understand what kinds of processes babies are using to make their earliest logical inferences, which can help us learn how the adult ability to have complex logical thoughts eventually emerges.
