Children's opinions about new people

For 5- to 8-year-old children

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. In this study, your child will see photos of a group of new children and either learn some unique information about those children or learn about some different objects. We will then ask your child what they think about the new children.

From previous research, we know that children pay attention to information such as a person’s food preference or abilities (like things they are good at) when encountering new people. However, little is known about how learning information about new people impacts children’s attitudes toward them. Understanding how children’s opinions about others change after learning unique information about them will help us create optimal opportunities for children to learn about people from diverse backgrounds.

After the session we will send you a $10 payment via Venmo, PayPal, or an Amazon.com gift card within one week. Each participating child must be between 5 and 8 years old and can only receive one gift card.
