Canadian Kids' Reasoning about Diversity

For Canadian 5- to 8- year olds

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you.

During the study, your child will learn about various fictional characters. First, they will be shown groups of diverse fictional characters and will be asked how much they like each group. Then, they will learn about fictional characters who wear cultural clothing and are learning to speak English. Your child will then be asked questions about what they heard and saw.

Studying how children reason about diverse groups of people, such as individuals learning English as a second language, furthers our understanding of their reactions to diversity and factors that contribute to acceptance and support for diversity. This can have implications for education, policy-making, and early interventions to promote positive attitudes towards diversity.
