研究・調査の流れ

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you.
In the study, we will describe a fictional scenario where a child hurts their head, and as a result, some things about the child change (for example, being shy or listening to their parents). We will show a short animation of a child like the ones in the preview image running and falling down, and we will inform your child that the story is just pretend. We will ask your child how much the character has changed as a result of each change they experienced after the accident, as well as some questions about how good or bad they consider various behaviors to be.

現在の研究・調査

We want to better understand how children think about personal changes. If various traits change about a person, how much does that change who they are? We know that adults consider some traits more important to make a person who they are than others. We want to know if children share the same intuitions. We hope that our results will help us to understand more about children's developing sense of self.

Within a week of participating, you will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card, and your child will receive a Junior Scientist certificate, to compensate you for the time it takes your child to complete the study. If you have multiple children between 5 and 12, you can receive prizes for each child who participates. You and your child will receive a prize even if you do not finish the whole study or we cannot use your child's data.
