This study will take place on an external link and requires a screening phone call with a researcher before participation. Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will take you to our recruitment webpage where you can contact our research team to schedule a screening phone call. On this call, you will talk with a member of the research team and decide whether you would like your child to participate. If after the phone call, you choose to have your child participate in this study, you will be sent a link for your child to complete the study at a convenient time in the following few days. In the study, your child will use a mouse, trackpad, or touchscreen to move the game piece (a ball or a cartoon character) in the virtual game environment. There will be child friendly video clips played during the game in response to your child's movement. Your child may be invited to complete one or more tasks. Each task includes at least two sections with instructions provided for each part. Children can complete the task(s) on their own time. |
現在の研究・調査 |
We are studying how children learn to move in a new environment using interactive games. The brain has different processes that are responsible for taking in information from the environment and deciding how the body will move in response to that information. Some of these processes take longer to develop than others during childhood. The tasks we have created will allow us to understand how early or late these processes mature so that we will have a better understanding of how the brain develops. This study is a part of a larger program grant looking at the development of motor learning mechanisms in typically developing children, children who have had a stroke, and children who have cerebellar ataxia. |
