The world "scene" through your baby's eyes

For infants ages 0 to 9 months.

研究・調査の流れ

During this study, your child will watch a short video. The video will show short clips of real places and faces. Your child can sit on your lap or in a high chair, and we will record where your child looks as they watch the video. Your job will simply be to remain neutral and supervise.

現在の研究・調査

The study explores how babies learn to perceive "places", or the local navigable visual environment. For example, are babies sensitive to the overall shape of typical scenes, over and above the clutter of objects, textures, colours, and materials that make up those scenes? And do babies learn this from early on in infancy, or only later, e.g., once they’ve started using scenes to guide their locomotion? Answering these questions could help us determine how much knowledge babies are born with, and how much they learn through experience. In the long run, we hope this research can help establish typical developmental trajectories, and basic developmental mechanisms, which we hope might one day inform approaches to intervention and rehabilitation in cases of developmental disorder.
