Social Thinkers Lab (Fordham University)
研究・調査への参加資格 |
5-to-10-year-old monolingual English-speaking children living in the United States (i.e., children who only speak English). |
研究・調査の流れ |
Your child will see a picture of a ladder and learn to place people higher on the ladder based on the things they have. They will then decide where to place people who speak different languages, for example, a person who only speaks English vs. a person who speaks both English and French. At the end, we will ask you (the adult) a few final questions about your family’s demographics. |
現在の研究・調査 |
The purpose of this study is to get a better understanding of how children associate different languages and accents with social status. Prior research shows that adults view specific languages and accents as higher in status. We are interested in if children do too. We hope that answering these questions will allow us to understand better how children navigate their worlds and the different people in them. |
