Your child will play two different games today. In the first game, your child will watch short videos of four different teachers. The first two teachers will teach their students the names of their toys. The last two teachers will teach their students about how they could make their projects better. After watching each video, your child will answer some questions to help us understand how teachers' feedback influences what children think about them. In the second game, we will show your child a pair of boxes that are filled with different colored balls. Then, one of these boxes will be hidden behind a curtain. Your child will use a claw machine to take balls out of the box in order to figure out which box is behind the curtain! After showing your child how to use the claw machine and play the guessing game, your child will see 4 pairs of boxes in total. NOTE: This study is only compatible with laptop / desktop computers, and not with phones / tablets. |
現在の研究・調査 |
We’re interested in how children handle uncertainty when they have to make decisions without being completely sure of the answer. Differences in how sensitive children are to uncertainty may also be related to other parts of their decision-making and social reasoning, including how they learn from other people. This study has two goals. First, we want to find out whether children prefer to be very sure before making a choice or whether they feel comfortable deciding when they don’t have all the information. Second, we want to understand how these differences connect to the ways children seek out information from others. |
