Explanations About the Natural World

For 5- to 8-year-olds

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. Your child will hear someone explain natural objects (e.g., ponds) and will judge explanation quality! They’ll also answer questions about similar objects and their interest in science.

We are interested in what kinds of explanations children like, and how that influences the way they explain things. We are also interested in children's thoughts about what it means to engage with science.

$5.00 Electronic Target Gift Card (Child needs to be in the age range and may only participate in this study one time). Compensation will occur within 48 hours of child's participation in the study. The family will be notified if compensation will take longer for any reason.
