研究・調査の流れ

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. During this study, you and your child will be watching short videos about kids in a foreign country going about their day. They do some things that may be similar to things your family does (like washing your hands with soap), and some things that your family likely does not do (like using tomato-flavored toothpaste!). Your child will be asked to point out these similarities and differences, and then we will ask some questions about how they think about kids from the other country and themselves.

現在の研究・調査

In this research study, we're interested in how the ways we introduce and talk about other groups of people influences children's growing concepts of those groups and their own. We are curious of the outcomes of different approaches to learning about others, how kids think about people in those groups, and whether there may be tradeoffs with each approach. By better understanding the different ways we talk to children about people who are different, we hope to inform the practices of teachers and parents.
