研究・調査の流れ

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. Your child will watch and listen to a 3-minute video with sentences with language switches and be asked by an accented speaker to look at different objects on the screen. You may also be asked to participate in a short 25-minute structured conversation, via phone call or Zoom, about your child’s language exposure.

現在の研究・調査

Many bilingual people switch between two languages and might speak one of them with an accent. For example, someone who speaks Spanish as their first language might speak English with a Spanish accent. We're curious if having an accent makes it harder to notice when someone switches languages. This study tests specifically if Spanish-English bilingual children have a harder time noticing when someone switches languages if the speaker has an accent.
