How Does Attachment Shape Memories?

For 13- to 16-year-olds

This study will take place on Qualtrics, an online survey platform. Clicking on the “Participate” button will take you to the consent video page. Once you and your child have completed the consent process, you will be directed to Qualtrics to begin the guardians' survey. In the guardians' survey, you will answer questions about your memory and provide some basic information (such as your email address for the reward). On the final page of the guardians' survey, you will find a link to the adolescents' survey. By clicking this link, your child will answer questions about mood, attachment and memory.

We are trying to understand how different ways of feeling close to people (called ‘attachment style’) might affect the way teens remember past events (such as birthdays or special trips, called ‘autobiographical memory’) and how this connects to their guardians.

5 minutes for guardians, and 50 minutes for adolescents

Include the following conditions: the child needs to be within the specified age range, both the parent and child must appear in the consent video, and only one experiment is allowed per child.

• After you and your child complete two surveys independently, your child will receive a £10 Blackhawk e-gift card (or $10 Amazon.com gift card in the USA).
• It may take one month to receive compensation.
