Cognitive and Language Development Lab (Montclair State University)
Who Can Participate |
(1) 4- to 5-year-old children who were exposed to Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in-utero |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. Your child will participate in a fun language assessment on the computer with a researcher. It will take about 30 minutes to complete and will be video/audio-recorded. You will also be asked to complete a questionnaire about your pregnancy history and your child’s development. |
What We're Studying |
We’re trying to learn more about how early experiences—like health during pregnancy—might be connected to how kids develop language skills. Some research has shown that gestational diabetes during pregnancy can affect how children grow and learn, but we don’t know much yet about how it might relate to things like talking and understanding words. By learning more about these connections, we hope this study can help parents and doctors better support children’s development from the very beginning. |

Parents/guardians will receive a $30 Giftogram gift card via email within a week of their child participating! Giftogram is an E-gift card that allows recipients to choose their preferred gift, and it can be redeemed at numerous online retailers or websites. Giftogram only works for US residents. To receive compensation, your child needs to be between 4-5 years old and needs to be visible during the videocall. Only one gift card per child will be sent. |
