Brain Bridge Lab (University of Chicago)
Who Can Participate |
For 5- to 7-year-olds, have access to computer/laptop, both the parent and child are fluent in English |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a live video call with a researcher! Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will take you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. In this Zoom-based study, your child will watch videos of water being poured between containers and answer questions like, “Do these two containers have the same amount of water?” to assess their understanding of liquid conservation. We will also ask follow-up questions, such as “Why do you think they have the same or different amounts?” to understand how children reason about these concepts. |
What We're Studying |
In this study, your child will watch a series of short video demonstrations where a researcher uses speech and gestures to explain abstract concepts. We will learn how the memorability of these gestures influences children's ability to understand and retain new ideas. This research will help inform the development of more effective teaching strategies that support children's cognitive growth. |
