This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. We’ll be showing images of a girl using vehicles to get to her friend’s birthday party, and your child will need to describe what she’s doing.

This study is investigating what language choices tell us about how we understand the world. English speakers use both the prepositions "in" and "on" when describing entering vehicles, so we're looking at when children begin understanding this rule. We think that younger children will use "in" and "on" equally, but as they get older and hear it used more they will begin to follow the general use rules. This data will tell us about children's ideas around space and motion.
