Harvard Lab for Developmental Studies (Thomas) (Harvard University)
Who Can Participate |
Children ages 6-8 years old who are based in the United States are invited to participate. |
What Happens |
Your child will listen to a short story about a character greeting a couple of people in a park. Afterwards, we'll ask some questions about the story, as well as which of the characters in the story were best friends. We will also ask questions about who they would rather be friends with. |
What We're Studying |
In this study, we are interested the kinds of cues children use to infer how close two people are. Specifically, we look at whether children think that super close friends (like best friends) are less common than other types of relationships. In doing so, we hope to start understanding how we gain intuitions about relationships across development! |
Duración |
10 minutes |
Compensación |
For your time, you will be compensated with a $5 Amazon.com gift card code within the week following your participation. In order to receive compensation, your child must be within the age range of the study (6-8 years old) and must be visible at some point within the video recording. We will only provide one gift card per child. |
