Learning in Infant Siblings of Children with Autism

For full-term (37+ weeks) 9 to 12-month-old infants with an older sibling with an existing autism diagnosis

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Schedule a time to participate” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. During the Zoom session, you will need a desktop or laptop. You will also receive an email with a link to a questionnaire asking about the current behaviors of your older child with autism (approximately 15 minutes). These survey questions confirm the eligibility of your infant by supporting their sibling's diagnosis.

Differences in gaze-following are an early behavioral marker of an autism diagnosis. Infant siblings of children with autism have been shown to exhibit similar differences at an early age. This study aims to explore the scope of these differences by altering the types of eye contact infants observe (direct and indirect).

30 minutes including questionnaire

Participants will be given $10 for the Zoom session and $5 for completing the survey. Compensation will be offered one per infant and only once the infant has been visible over Zoom. It will be sent via email within 1 hour of the Zoom meeting and will be in the form of an Amazon.com gift card.
