Probabilistic Learning Across Development: How Does Wiggle Feel?

Probabilistic Learning Across Development: How Does Wiggle Feel?

Child Emotion Lab (University of Wisconsin - Madison)

Who Can Participate

For four-and-a-half through ten-year-olds who speak English

What Happens

In this study, your child will play an emotion learning game with Wiggle, a friendly alien from another planet. Your child will look at pictures of Wiggle and choose between two options for how Wiggle is feeling in the picture.

What We're Studying

We're studying how kids direct their attention when learning about people's emotions. Previous research suggests that young children may allocate their attention differently than older children when learning new non-emotional concepts. As a result, they may learn in different ways and remember different things. We're interested in whether the same is true when learning about emotions. If so, this could inform the strategies we use to teach kids about emotions!

Duration

30 minutes

To be eligible for the gift card, you/your child must meet the eligibility criteria listed above, and you must submit a valid consent statement. Your child must be visible in the consent video. Each person is eligible to participate to receive a gift card only once. Gift cards will be sent via e-mail within one week of study completion.
